Bohemian interior design style has been very popular in recent years. It represents a carefree lifestyle and the only rule in it is to follow your heart.
This style is one of the more commonly known ones, but it is not always easy to explain. Maybe the easiest one is to say that it resembles the aesthetics of the 60s and early 70s. When we think of Boho it is better to think of Woodstock. It is all about being free and individualistic.
Design
This eclectic nature of the Bohemian interior design style can combine a glamorous chandelier with a well-worn rug and a Мid-century chair for example. One of the leading principles in the Boho style is that anything goes as long as you love it.
A statement piece in the Bohemian style is a must. It can easily be a plant. You can boldly pick a larger-than-life plant or one with a bold deep green color. You want to achieve a feeling that you are walking into a relaxing bungalow in this space.
Bold patterns are a trademark of the Bohemian interior style as well as that jungle and natural feel that sends you to a different universe when you walk into the room.
Amongst the most popular plants when it comes to Boho are White Bird of Paradise and the Janet Craig and Monstera deliciosa known as Swiss-cheese plant.
Colors
Colors and tones are soft when we talk about Boho and they are often combined with bold patterns. Dark colors are not preferable in this color scheme. Beiges, whites, and neutrals are the best base color for creating a Boho color scheme. After you have your neutral color palette figured out it is time to add in the unique statement pieces. You can add bright colored pieces or ones with bold patterns.
They can be attributed to the Middle Eastern, Moroccan, and South American cultures.
Materials and textures
As we mentioned Bohemian homes may include glamorous or vintage furniture and light fixtures.
Most typical materials you’ll see in this interior style are wood, rattan, handmade seagrass accessories, and hemp baskets.
This implies for textiles and rugs as well! In a Boho interior, you can find denim, chiffon, silk, suede, leather, and cotton, with a variety of textures. Tribal and ethnic patterns are very popular for achieving the Bohemian vibe.
